We had a wonderful time in Fiji! Garden Island Resort was a perfect choice for us. The location for our dive spots couldn't have been any closer and our oceanfront balcony was literally feet from the water. What a great view of Somosomo Straits. The rooms were adequate and well maintained and the food was good, too. I also liked the newly renovated dining area with its wide open view of the water as well as the fruit bats hanging from the trees above! Also, like everyone says, the staff and island people were very nice, accommodating and genuinely happy. How refreshing!
The diving was amazing with all the multi-colored and shaped soft corals as well as a variety of other corals and sea life. The blue ribbon eels were beautiful and a first for me as well as the poisonous and very docile sea snakes that I'd read and heard so much about. When the currents were cranking it was also quite a ride--spread your arms and fly underwater!

The island itself with the waterfalls, rivers, greenery, hills, villages and the people was absolutely something special. Combining the land and sea life all together made for an unforgettable trip by all.

Your year of adventures sounds wonderful and now I know why you are such a knowledgable travel agent ! You travel!!! We arrived home from Fiji Thanksgiving Day just in time to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner in Newport Beach with my Mom and family. An appropriate ending to a great trip.

We had a marvelous vacation. TIR and the Matalau villa could not have been a more perfect choice for us - the entire week we felt like we were in heaven and I could have not felt more welcomed or more catered to. Taveuni Island is beautiful, surreal, and spiritual. All I can say is that that island really touched my heart. On our last day there Doe informed us of the village ceremony that would be performed that evening and I had a momentary shudder of a commercial Hawaiian luau (no offense) but suddenly felt intrigued and drawn to it ... WOW - within five minutes of their beautiful singing, dancing, the sun setting, the gorgeous ocean, the irony of a 3 masted ship pulling into the bay right during their performance I was sobbing it was all soooo touching.

Anyway I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know we feel very lucky to have found you and McCoy Travel.

Thank you so much for all of your effort and expertise that you put into making our vacation a great one. I'll get back to you later with a few personal experiernces that might be pertinent to your info on Taveuni Island re: scuba, horseback riding, Lavena Coastal walk etc.

Hi Lori,

We had a great time. The staff was excellent and friendly. The trips were amazing. My 6yr olds loved the zip line and cave tubing! They were fighting over who got to go first. The snorkeling was beautiful. The girls jumped in the ocean and snorkeled without a problem. The hike was muddy but fun. The waterfall was great and cold. The boys scuba dived 4 days and saw sting rays, puffer fish, sea horses, nurse sharks, lobsters, etc. The food was wonderful. We even went on a bird watching tour and saw woodpeckers, parrots and toucans.

We wanted me to mention that the scuba company associated with Jaguar Reef was nice but definitely a “no frills” operation. We switched to the Hamanasi resort scuba diving company and loved their very professional first class operation. They had a bigger boat which offered the divers further distances to travel for dives and a stronger boat against the stormy seas they encountered.

Anyway, we did have fun and loved our resort better than the rest along the beach. Mainly, because of the authentic thatched roofs and tropical feel.

Give us a year or two and we will be itching for another tropical vacation. Bryan says definitely South Pacific though.

Dear Lori,

Well, We have figured out why you guys are so excited about Fiji! Our trip was nothing short of phenomenal!! We got back to Seattle about midnight Sunday and are still talking about what a great time and what a great experience we had. The Outrigger was truly beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We did get off the property almost every day and found the native Fijiians equally friendly no matter where we went. I did two scuba dives and the diving was comparable to any place in the Caribbean, including Cozumel. Beautiful coral, multitudes of fish (nice white tip sharks!), great visibility, and good divemaster.

We landed at Nadi early morning in a pouring down rain. Uh-oh, we thought, this looks like Seattle! But after the first day of rain, we had pretty good weather most of the rest of the time. Not too much sun, but it was warm and water was still 80 degrees. That didn't dampen our spirits and we stayed busy just sightseeing and walking up and down the beach at low and high tides beachcombing and hitting all the little beach bars and cafes, talking to locals and anyone else who looked like they could answer our questions. We met very few Americans, about 99% were from AUS and NZ. Nice folks and we came home with several email addresses from people who wanted to keep in touch.

The Outrigger has most anything you'd want........several bars and restaurants and great buffet and live entertainment everyday. Our only negative comment would be the price of food and drink at the Outrigger. We found equally good quality food and drinks at several little private places down the beach a 5-10 minute walk for less than half of what the Outrigger charged. A local beer at the resort was about FJ$7 and down the beach the same beer was FJ$3. Food was equally cheaper. But, the Outrigger has huge overhead and lots of employees so I know they must charge more to maintain the property. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

We visited the closest town of Sigatoka several times. Shopping was good for local products and the open market was a hoot. The Indians are a little pushy, but once you figure that out, you can ignore them and move on. We ate in town several times and had great food at very reasonable prices. We had curry quite a few times and it was all delicious and they'd make it as spicy as we liked. Wonderful!

The flight from LAX-Nadi was really nice. The plane was about 70% full, so we had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. A couple glasses of wine and Advil PM did the trick! The flight crew was very friendly and attentive, and the food was certainly tolerable........about what you expect these days flying coach. The flight back to LAX was a bit more stressful. The 747 was totally full, so we did not have the luxury of an empty seat between us. Nevertheless, the 10 hours went as quickly as it could and we arrived LAX tired but happy. We had a 5 hour layover in LA, so we spent that time in the Alaska boardroom and got a chance to unwind before our SEA flight.

Overall, we both give the trip 5-stars!! On the way back, we both talked about our return trip and what we'd do differently. I think the main thing is we'd stay longer, at least 10 nights. It was possibly the most restful trip we've ever had, but I think that's part of the laid-back attitude on the island. We loved it and certainly want to go again.

It was complete with very native food and kava ceremony until the wee hours of the morning. It was quite an experience, but that's a story for another time! ..

Hi Lori,

We’re back in the real world again. We had an awesome time. Thank you again for all of your effort in putting together an itinerary for a perfect vacation. We’re always very appreciative of the extra effort that you put forth in advising us and looking out for our interests when putting together our vacation. We really enjoyed staying in Duavata (of course how could you not). The first day we were there, there was only one other couple and then we had Namale all to ourselves for the 2nd and 3rd day of our trip. By the time we left, the resort was about 50% capacity. We also really enjoyed Vomo. It was perfect for “on your own, do it yourself” types like us, because we could snorkel, kayak, or hike whenever we wanted without really seeing anyone else.

A few comments:

Namale:
Namale was great as always. The Duavata villa was perfect to relax and unwind. It is also worthy to mention that it had a little AC unit in the bedroom, since they do not mention it on their website. We met the new managers (Ron and Margaret), who are nice people (they had only been there a week). The service was even a little better than the last time we were there, such as for special requests, or customized activities. Kay who works in reception (also was the interim resort manager until Ron and Margaret came on board) took us kayaking from her house out to an island where the fruit bats roost. They would ask us if wanted anything special for our meals, or if we wanted any snacks during the day. They have great soups. Probably, the only downer was that we didn’t get kava every night like the previous visits. Instead, it was only offered twice while were there. We were going to ask the managers what their plan is for that, since everyone seems to enjoy the kava evenings.

Vomo:
We really enjoyed Vomo. It was cloudy pretty much the whole time we were in Namale, so we didn’t go snorkeling there. We could have still snorkeled, but we knew we would have plenty of time to do that on Vomo. That was okay because we had plenty of other stuff to do in addition to just relaxing. However, it was nice to get some sun on Vomo. Vomo was perfect for us because most of the guest would spend their time hanging around the pool, so it was like having an entire island to ourselves. The island is beautiful and we saw several reef sharks around the island. The food was good although, we ordered cheese burgers off the kid’s menu a couple of times. The bures had excellent air conditioning units (probably the best that we have had). The only knock that we really had on the bure was the bed because our bed consisted of two twin beds combined so that left a dip in the middle. It took a couple of nights to adjust after staying in the awesome Duavata bed. However, we managed. There we a lot of families so we definitely appreciate you making sure we got a free standing bure. However, the kids were not a big deal for us since the island provided plenty of room to get away. Since we had plenty of places to go on our own, we liked Vomo better than say, some place like Qamea, although we don’t feel it is necessarily worth $/night, which is what it would have been if you were unable to get us the stay 5/pay 4 deal. However, Vomo is a place that we will definitely return to someday.

In summary, we really thought it worked great to include time in the Mamanuca's along with a Namale stay so that we had a good variety in our stay. We would definitely recommend it to others. As always, we are happy to provide additional information should you have future clients who have questions about the resort, or this type of itinerary.

Dear Lori & Mike,

We had the entire place to ourselves the whole time! We were the only guests! With that the managers and staff pulled off a remarkable balance of making us feel like family, but in a ‘perfect host’ sort of way, giving us space when we wanted it, and letting us into theirs when we wanted that, too. As always in Fiji, the staff were immeasurably kind and gentle, thoughtful and thorough. Our dive master Zachariah was a hoot and eminently trustworthy underwater, especially for Oliver.

The place itself was pristine and manicured and immaculately maintained. Have you toured the Royal Bure? Our jaws dropped when we saw it from the outside. They stayed dropped after walking through the door and realizing it would be home for ten days. No accommodation we’ve stayed in Fiji is in the same galaxy, certainly not Turtle Island at seven times the cost. The house lived up to its monarchical name with all of its appointments and furnishings and bathrooms and decks. In the end we brought a friend with us for five days, and they didn’t even charge us for his room, just a nominal fee for food.

We found the food outstanding, by the way. As good as anywhere we’ve had in that country. It didn’t matter that we couldn’t order off a menu because we liked everything they brought us, and they brought it in ridiculously huge amounts. I shared a few likes and dislikes before we arrived and they remembered everything without having to be asked. Though copious and yummy the food was always healthy—okay maybe not the coconut batter-fried chicken—and fresh as fresh, like eating in the home of the most gracious country host. You know about their dishes, right? Annalise’s massive china collection on which the meals are served? It was too Out of Africa for words.

“Gracious” also describes the management and staff, in spades. Elisabeth was warm and flexible and accommodating without fault. Whatever we wanted she made happen with a great joviality. She was terribly generous about spontaneously offering to waive charges, like for our dive equipment rental and Oliver’s bubble course, which ended up turning into a full Junior certification. We wanted to help a couple of the nearby villages with their water problems, so Elisabeth boated over an American Peace Corps volunteer posted on Kadavu to manage that very thing. She put him up and fed him just so he could meet with us, and she offered to be the conduit through which the equipment is purchased. On a similar score we wanted to sponsor for scuba certification the young man they found to buddy around with Oliver (didn’t charge us for him either). Elisabeth made the arrangements, but in the end wouldn’t let us pay for it, covering it out of pocket instead. Overall the pricing at the place is unbeatable.

Can I say how wonderful it was to have a full-time RN on site in the form of Lydia? She checked me out every morning before my (shallow) dives to give approval. You may know that Annalise has her there for guests and the villagers. What a thing. The staff and locals speak of Annalise with exceptional respect and appreciation. Annalise’s contributions come with no eccentricity or expectations, and they, the contributions, seem to be endless.

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that our trip was absolutely wonderful and we appreciate all your work in getting every little detailed taken care of. It was a truly fabulous vacation and not a single detail was overlooked and we couldn't have asked for a better itinerary or accommodations. The only "hitch" we could even point out was that our Lagoon room view was not available for early check in at 4:30am when we arrived in Tahiti so they upgraded us to an overwater bungalow with early check-in. (boo-hoo). We had a wonderful 25th anniversary trip and would highly recommend you to anyone who was considering taking this trip in the future. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you. Things have been quite hectic since we have been back. We had a great time, thank you. Our wedding turned out beautiful. The photographers were great. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is having a wedding. We enjoyed both islands. If we were to do it over again, I think we would do 5 nights at Matamanoa, 5 nights at Qamea and then 5 nights at a nice hotel on the main island. The staff was very friendly and wonderful, but the service isn't what we were are used to in the States. The massage therapists at Qamea were fantastic, probably the best we've had. Jordan and I got many massages. Overall, we had a nice time. Thank you for all of your help planning our Wedding and Honeymoon.

I've been so busy with school the past couple days i haven't had time to get to you. I can't thank you enough for you work and attention to Kayla and I and wanted to share my experience to show you how grateful for you we are

With all the wedding planning i was only given two jobs and one was the honeymoon. I had never before dealt with a travel agent as I have always travel inside the 48 continuous states up until this point. I had been given dozens of names, agencies, tips, cautions etc. and was very overwhelmed. I did as much research as possible before I was ready to start talking to people but was still rather clueless. On the day that I began to give my information to travel sites on the web McCoy was one of the first because you're company was one of the recommendations I had received. Obviously being a normal American consumer I looked at many different sites to find the best price. After sharing info with 'Tripology' 'South Seas Adventures' Travel Wizards' ' Fiji-Honeymoons' and about 6-8 others, I sat back and waited to see if anyone would call me unprovoked as I don't Email when I don't have to. I feel an actual conversation is more personal. 2 people did call though I received about 5 other emails. You were the 2nd person to call me which automatically pushed the other man to the top of my list until I found out the time zone difference and realized that you called FIRST THING in the morning where as it took him half the day to get to me. Not a huge deal all things considered but this is my honeymoon and I want to be treated like it's the biggest thing in the world even from the beginning because to us, it is. All told I talked to 6 trip planners in the next three days, as some didn't bother to call or email at all, all the while still planning to get the best deal possible. That, however, didn't last long because your service far exceeded the competition for many reasons.

As I mentioned before, you the quickest to call me back which spoke volumes to me being that I hate waiting and especially with the excitement I had about my first overseas trip. I knew everyone I talked to would have worlds of info about Fiji otherwise they wouldn't have the job they do and was correct. Every person I talked to 'knew' resorts and had plenty of knowledge to offer. Having already looked at more than 50 resort myself before all of this thought I had a great idea of what I was looking for and had already narrowed it down to 5. Three of the other people I talked to did nothing but try to discourage me from where I wanted to go. One in fact insisted on other resort so much I had to hang up on her because she would not listen to me. You did. My fiance and I wanted to stay in one resort for 12 days. We DID NOT want to island hop. We're there for relaxing, not packing and unpacking every couple days. It seems to me that if you're planning a trip for someone you may want to listen to what they want. Call me crazy I guess. Others insisted on strict itineraries that included hikes and village visits. Again not listening! We wanted to hang out with nothing to do except what we want to at that time. Spontaneity! You listened, YOU cared, YOU wanted us to what we wanted to do where we wanted to do it, and worked QUICKLY to ensure we could do so. The only other person out of six that agreed to put us where we wanted to go said he'd call me back "in 4 weeks and go from there." I did get a few quotes from other people but not for what we wanted. I even had one lady that spent the first 20 minutes of MY cell minutes talking about her rate. Really? I know you don't do this for free!

After you called with our final quote and we hung up the phone I talked with my fiance and both said instantly we wanted to go with you no matter how much cheaper anyone else could get it for. We simply didn't care at this point because YOU did. We felt like we were your only client! You really made everything easy and fun. We are both VERY 'brand loyal' people who love to travel. I am graduating for Radiology school the month before our marriage and trip to Fiji and will be traveling quite a bit in the future and because of our experience with you on this trip, NO ONE but you or someone at McCoy that you recommend will be helping us plan. I cant thank you enough for your help Lori and I hope you continue the outstanding work.

Dear Lori,

We're home and unpacked but still dreaming of turquoise water and tropical fish.
All aspects of our trip went according to plan - plane flights, accommodations, meals. It was all wonderful.
Ray and Ed did the channel float at Kia Ora, and we all went to Bird's Island at Tikihau and on the fishing picnic at Manihi. We rode bicycles, played pool and putt putt golf, and were in and out of pools and the ocean every day. We also all gained weight.
At Manihi, we were given an upgrade to a deluxe over water bungalow with air conditioning which was great since that was the warmest spot. The other bungalows also had air conditioning.

Kia Ora had the largest, most convenient units and excellent food. Tikihau also had excellent food and very unique bungalows. Manihi had the greatest variety of fish, and the over water bungalows were a wonderful experience. The dining room at XX seemed to be run by native people. The food was fine, but there were limited choices, and the service was terribly slow. At all resorts, the service was gracious.
We all appreciate the excellent job you did in arranging our trip and dealing with any issues that arose. I hope we will have an opportunity to have you plan more vacations for us in the future, and you are part of our Fiji and French Polynesia experience.

I am very happy to be able to write this letter regarding McCoy Travel (i.e. Lori Evans). When my son decided to marry, we, as a family, strongly considered Maui. We phoned numerous travel agencies for information and advice.

It was ONLY after finding McCoy Travel and speaking to Lori that we cinched the deal. I was a nervous mom of the groom and was most concerned about my only son's honeymoon being a huge and fabulous adventure for him and my new daughter in law. Lori is by far, more than an agent, even more than a friend, more like a member of the family. She calmed my nerves and went through the whole program with me.....more than once. She went above and beyond, letting me know she was there, only a phone call away if any concerns should arise. And they did (even if in my own mind, and she was there).

The trip turned out fantastic and all of our attendees had a great time. The hotel was very nice and the ocean-front rooms a hit, especially since we could watch the whales from our window. The highlight had to be the whale watching excursion. We managed to get right up on a pod and a large one jumped right next to the boat. Wow!.

Got back from Fiji last Sunday, the place is amazing! You were right, Qamea was the perfect place, splitting the week between the beachfront bure and premium villa was perfect, and the food was great. The premium villa was wonderful (having the meals brought to the villa was so luxurious). We had a bright sunny day for the wedding, in fact the day of the wedding was the only day without rain in Qamea while we were there. The Sofitel was the definitely the best place to stay in Denarau. I have sent you a link for our photo album online. Please feel free to share the photos with other couples we are thinking of getting married in fiji so as they can have a better idea as to what its like and how qamea is a great spot. I would also highly recommend the Sofitel for staying in Denarau and the Novotel as a stopover hotel in Nadi. Our stay was definitely luxury in paradise!!

Good evening. The trip was amazing. It was very relaxing, and the calm atmosphere was just what we needed.

I thought the flight in was great, it really let's you see part of the island that you wouldn't see from the coast. We were also glad to have taken a car on our return trip, it gave us an interesting view of the villages and locals. We had an Indian driver that was very knowledgeable.

The resort was great, we had Thanksgiving dinner with the GM and the owner who were both gracious. They asked us how we had heard about the resort and we told them your name. They were very aware of the number of guest you send them.

The resort itself was great, the rooms were very clean and nice, and the plunge pools really made the place fantastic. The employees were extremely nice and that added touch made our stay even more enjoyable.

From an activity stand point, we did everything we could, my daughter went zip lining and I did the shark dive. All 3 of us went out to the resort owned island for a day of snorkeling. My wife and I saw a 6 ft reef shark swim under us, right before we had our grilled lobster and chicken lunch.

If there was any negative feed back we had, it would be the snorkeling right off the beach of the resort and the water quality. We didn't know that most of the rivers are polluted on the main island and that most of the reef is dead on the coast. The only other item that was unexpected was the set up at the resort. It seemed like the resort wasn't really sure what it wanted to be, a resort or property development company. While we very much enjoyed the resort, it seemed as if the owner had changed their direction and wanted to sell the property rather then focus on the "Resort experience". The only down side here was that the food was somewhat average.

We made some great friends, but we don't know if the resort will be there in the next few years to return.

My family and I agree that we would go back to Fiji again, but we would want to stay on an island with a lot a reef around it that we could just walk into the water and snorkel for hours. I'm sure there are a lot of resorts like this, in fact if I recall you recommended we try two places....my bad! :)

We are already starting to plan our next trip, I enjoyed working with you and hopefully you can help us on our next adventure.

I think you can sum up what we are looking for in two things, a really nice resort with great food, and untouched reefs that are warm and thriving with life that can be accessed right in front of the resort.

Thanks again for all of your advice, the resort over all was great and very cost effective.

Bula Melissa!

This is our 3rd year in a row in Fiji.  What can I say?  It is the most magical place on earth for me and my family!  With an agent like Lori every place could be that!  She is by far the best travel agent I have worked with in the past 20 years.

This year we went back to Fiji Resort.  We feel this is our home away from home.  Everyone knew us and we feel at one with "the people".  The days seem to merge into another like a beautiful quilt.  The calm of the resort, the island breeze, and the amazing residents of Fiji beckon you.  There is never any stress (!) or pressure.  No t.v. or phone is an added bonus.

The best experience for us is always the sea plane.  This is an experience that everyone must enjoy at least once in their lifetime.  There is nothing like it!  A bit noisy at first but then it is like gliding.  Oh and the landing is as smooth as butter!

We hope that next year we will be fortunate enough to return to Fiji.  We can not get enough.  You can say we are addicted.  We try and spread the Fiji islands to everyone we come in contact with (whether they want to or not). So much so that this past August we brought 2 more families to discover Fiji.  They loved it so much they are too longing to return next year.

Finally, Lori is an amazing woman.  A travel agent with so much attention to detail. So patient (thank you Lori). So caring.  This is a rarity in our world today.  A world where everything is done on line and there is no contact with a "live" person. I am thankful each day that I "met" Lori.  A simple search on the internet 3 years ago led me to her.  She is the best "buy" I ever made on line.

As for the trip- we absolutely loved our time in Fiji, we are convinced that we were at the best of the best resorts!  The quality of the bures, the food, the view, the water... all were top notch and more than we had experienced anywhere before.  What makes the resort is most definitely the staff.  The Fijian's we interacted with at the resort knew our names by dinner (within 6 hours of arriving!), and not just our names, but we arrived with three other couples and they knew each and everyone of us!  Percy is a special staff member, one I know for a fact that all of the guests build a kinship with.

The food...good God the food!  We have never eaten so much fresh food in my life, and every time we turned around it seemed it was time to eat.  The manner in which
we are severed, the atmosphere, the presentation, and the quality are top notch each and every meal.

Our time was spent snorkeling, we snorkeled everyday except one (it rained).  Amanda and I went on the waterfall tour which is a must do for any couple!.  We were not able to get to the third fall because it had been raining the couple of days prior and during our tour and Percy said it was not safe.  We tried to bribe him to take us but to no avail!

Honeymoon beach was a great opportunity for us to get away and enjoy some time alone.  We did some snorkeling, ate lunch, read a bit, swam, and enjoyed our time together before Sam picked us up at the scheduled time.

I have included a picture of the new jungle spa, I am not sure if you have been to the resort recently enough to experience the new spa, it is gorgeous and an absolutely wonderful environment to let yourself go and relax.   We enjoyed our complimentary massage and Amanda returned for another treatment before we left. 

The village tour and church were great cultural experiences and interacting with the Fijian people gave both of us a much greater appreciation for the culture and the way they live...awesome experience that anyone who goes should attend- these two things are what help make the resort as great as it is!

I could go one for hours about our positive experience, and if it is in the cards we would certainly go back in the future. 

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!  We have compared stories with our friends who have recently honeymooned and we are more than confident that our experience was far superior and more than worth the few extra bucks.

Before I dive into the spectacular time we had at the Fiji Resort, I’d like to mention the person that helped us find this place, Lori at McCoy Travel. We had worked with a few other agencies before finally booking with McCoy and we wouldn’t recommend anyone else! She is a regular at the Fiji Resort and was much like a celebrity there, so we knew we were in good hands. We changed our plans quite a bit, booking a Hawaii vacation on the way to Fiji, and she had no problem accommodating us in every way, keeping us updated all the time. Thank you Lori for putting together the most perfect anniversary! You set us up for having the most beautiful memories for life!

We upgraded to one of the premium villas and it was well worth the money.  It has an indoor & outdoor shower along with a separate living area.  It has a private pool; I’m guessing 10’x20’ and approx 6’ in the deep end.  It is fully covered by the deck’s dawning so it is much cooler than the resort’s pool.  The sun gets brutal if you’re lying-out so a quick dip in the pool is very refreshing.  I was in there every day. Also, the premium villas have what I thought to be the best hammock at the resort. Each bure/villa has its own hammock but the premium villa has one between two trees right over the beach. During high tide you’d be lying in the hammock only to have the ocean’s waves break right under you. Now that is my definition of paradise!

The entire staff knows your name instantly.   While on the subject of staff… you must get one of William’s drinks!  He can make a mean drink and his smile is contagious.  The Band Boys are astounding!  Try some kava with them and listen to their stories.  If you do play the guitar they will definitely enjoy jamming with you. One of the people we met had an amazing voice and played guitar. She played a song with the band one night while one of the guys was improv jamming with her, it was wonderful. Everyone made our trip truly memorable, especially their stories.

Although we didn’t get out on any of the excursions (read above about William’s drinks and you can figure out why), we did greatly enjoy the Meke ceremony. The stories told by the village’s kids with song and dance were wonderful and everyone seemed to be having a great time. They also had a kava ceremony with local villagers which was very exciting.

My favorite part was cocktail hour before dinner.  This is where you get to meet everyone else staying at the resort. One night at dinner we were pleasantly surprised when a cake lit with candles was brought out as the band played.  We had been wondering whose birthday it was only to have the cake brought directly to us, realizing then that the band was singing Happy Anniversary!  My husband had mentioned our anniversary to one of the guests, only to have a staff member overhear and prepare this the same night. A complete surprise!

It was truly an amazing trip.  I could go on forever here but you really have to experience everything for yourself.  Again, we would like to thank the owners for putting together such a wonderful resort and friendly staff as well as McCoy Travel for directing us to this slice of paradise. Vinaka Vakalevu!!!

Hi Lori!

I have been meaning to write you since we returned from our trip.  Our trip was nothing short of perfect.  The Fiji resort was everything we were hoping for and more.  The resort itself was beautiful and we loved the honeymoon villa since it was set back a bit from the other bures and it did not have as much foot traffic in front.  We relaxed more than we participated in the activities but we loved the fact we could do as much or as little as we wanted to while we were there and we did go on the village visit, waterfall hike and a couple of snorkeling excursions - all of which we loved.  Perhaps the best thing about the whole experience was the STAFF!  Everyone was so friendly and helpful and they were amazing!  We have nothing bad to say about anything and we are so glad we chose this Fiji resort for our honeymoon.  Thank you for recommending it over the others we were looking at.  Also, thank you for helping us plan and book the trip - the process was so easy and great and I will definitely contact you for our future trips to see if you can be of any assistance.  We already said we will go back in 5 or 10 years but we'll be planning our first anniversary trip before you know it!  THANKS AGAIN!!!

Just wanted to say thank you again for planning the perfect trip for us. Reality has really sunk in today since we are both back to work!!

Hawaii was perfect in every way! The weather was amazing, the concert was indescribable, the hotel was perfect (we loved the morning entertainment), and the food and drinks were wonderful. So wonderful that we had my entire family and all our friends watching us via web cam from Lu Lu's after many a Mai-Tai, actually bringing tears to my grandmom's eyes whom I haven't seen since our wedding. She had us kissing for the camera while everyone at the bar thought we were nuts, waving at the back wall and all.

And then there was Fiji. I don't think I have any words to describe how we felt at the Fiji resort but if I had to pick one, complete and utter comfort would be best. From the moment we were picked up in Taveuni to the moment we were dropped back off, we felt as if we spent years at the Fiji resort before. Teri's favorite story about the staff is when we first arrived, everyone knew her as Theresa. I think she mentioned to Ana that she goes by Teri and literally 5 or 10 minutes later everyone knew her as Teri! Amazing. I am not sure whose doing it was, but every night they brought us a cheese plate along with two complimentary drinks to our villa just before dinner. They even started bringing us Mai-Tai's since that was what we were always drinking. And speaking of Mai-Tai's, we fell in love with William. Not only was he the nicest person I have ever met, he makes a mean drink! So much so that I regret to say we didn't get on many of the hikes/tours. We enjoyed laying out by our villa drinking William-Mai-Tai's all day! We did plenty of snorkeling though....incredible! Richard was wonderful! I could include so much more here but we are currently preparing our long & praising review, so no need to double work. I just want to thank you for suggesting the Fiji resort as we met so many couples we will be in touch with for years to come and had the time of our lives!

What a treat it was for my husband & me to visit Fiji.  I had a preconceived notion of what to expect of our trip.  I was wrong!  You wanted to know our favorite experience - well, it was the people of Fiji - what a joy to spend time with them.  My husband & I always felt like we were part of their extended family.  Here's a testimony for you - after we have visited a place (and my husband & I are well traveled) we kind of feel "been there, done that; where are we going next"? Well, we would love to visit Fiji again.  It was a delight because of the people. 

Highlights: 
Fiji Resort #1 for its snorkeling & having the very private bures - very conducive to "couple time." 
Fiji Resort #2 was our favorite because the staff made it so.  I loved running around barefoot & thought the snorkeling here was also very good.  The Round the Island Tour was a highlight for us.  Percy was a personal favorite staff person there.  The land transfers & connections went smoothly.  We appreciated hearing that Lori called each resort we were visiting to check on us & make sure all was well. 
Fiji Resort #3 had especially delicious fresh fruit & seafood.  We also needed a nurse to obtain some antibiotics because one of us became ill.  We were happy there was a resident nurse at a nearby Fiji Resort, easily accessible from our resort. 

On another note - I read that you have (coming soon) a resident African Specialist.  That is my personal dream trip - something to accomplish before I get too old, or my husband runs out of money!   Please keep us informed on all the particulars of Africa, Melissa.  I want to be sitting in my rocking chair, telling my daughter about the trip her dad & I took to Africa & that she should start saving her money now because it is a trip not to be missed.  Would love to meet you some day, Melissa.  If you are ever in Denver, you better look us up!  Vinaka!

We really lucked out on our trip to Fiji.  We had left a lot of our short trip to chance and things went really smoothly.  We managed to get to the Fiji resort the same day and we had 2 days of diving.  We did just miss a storm that skirted past the islands, which turned the water up a bit – water visibility was a short 20-50 feet.  However, the island was very relaxing.  It is the first time we have stayed in such a place, sterile from the area around it.  It was a bit odd for us – we chose to eat with Jayne and Clint and the other guests at the group table – we enjoy spending time with other people.  Contrary to B&B’s we’ve stayed at in the US, Jayne and Clint sat with us and had all the servers work diligently around us; like a Georgian mansion; that took getting used to.  The Fijian’s are extremely friendly and fun to get to know.  I had a massage from Filo.  Joe the boat master tried a professional bravado, but melted at the idea of a photo with him and the dive master.  The dive master was so very kind when I unlaced the BC strap from the tank to transfer the BC to the other tank – we had a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to get it to go back.  After we figured it out, he was very kind to all my apologies at having caused such trouble.  We did have a 2 hour delay on the flight back to Australia, but better that direction.

Anyway, we had a wonderful time.  It was very relaxing, albeit very sheltered from the actual Fijian culture.  If it is ok, we would love to keep you in our list of people to call for other trips that we might do in your areas of expertise – the Fijian and Hawaiian islands, I presume.  Thanks again!

What a fab trip! Vinaka! We fully enjoyed our time in Fiji and thank you for all your help in getting everything so well organized.

We have friends in from Boston and they would like to visit Fiji while here in Australia too.  They have a small window of time to work with and their focus is on scuba diving. What would you recommend? I will cc  her on this so you can work out arrangements with Cindy and her husband Martin. They are looking at about 3-4 days in Fiji.

Hi Lori -
We just returned today from Phuket.
The Thailand Resort and Spa was incredible. What a peaceful stay it was. The staff was so attentive to us, when they caught on that Dion was in the industry himself as a hotel caterer and chef they were on it. We loved the spa, the massages were wonderful everyday. We enjoyed the few outside activities we did, Bon Island but most of the time was spent at the resort itself and it was very high end.

We have been very pleased with both of our trips, last year to Fiji and this past month to Bora Bora and Moorea. A big part of that was the wonderful service and assistance we received from Lori. She was very responsive, listened to our concerns, preferences, etc., and delivered on what was promised or agreed upon. Just as an example, we requested POWB # 45 and 426 for the Resorts in Bora Bora and Moorea, respectively, and we got them. Her insight and advice on must-do excursions and other particulars with regards to the resorts and islands itself was dead-on!

We were very pleased with our accommodations and overall travel experience to both Fiji and French Polynesia. The food and service at the Fiji resort, in particular, was amazing!! And we cannot say enough wonderful things about the genuine warmth and hospitality of the Fijians, and the beauty of their country. In fact, we are planning a trip for next year back to Fiji, with diving in mind…

Yes, we did have a lot of fun in French Polynesia and a significant part of that was you making sure we received the best possible accommodations (loved our bungalows!) and service possible; plus advice on what was good to do with each island. We would like to sincerely thank you once again!
 
With regards to our next trip, we would definitely like to plan it for November of next year. We did like the 2 cruises you mentioned as well as the Fiji Bungalow resort.  Fiji resort #1 has made a lasting impression on us. They are still the gold standard, even with Bora Bora of recent. We will definitely go back there one day….

Ia Orana and Bula Lori,

It was nice talking with you tonight. We also wanted to let you know that we got POWB # 45 at Bora Bora and we were absolutely delighted with it. It had an awesome view of Mt. Otemanu, and the lagoon in Bora Bora is just spectacular!! The staff at both Pearls was great; not awesome like Fijians as you pointed out before the trip, but they did make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We did have the pleasure of meeting both Kamala and Tony, and we availed of the Bora Bora Deluxe spa package. It was expensive, but she gave us a good deal with it (Vichy shower and an Ave massage for me), so we bit and are so glad we did. It is probably the best if not second best deep tissue massage I’ve had. We did not get to meet Laura. But then again, between 6 dives each island; circle lagoon tour, ATV, renting a car for a day to explore Moorea, the Dolphin experience; tandem parasailing at 300 m, jet ski tour, and lagoonarium at Bora Bora (whew…) we did not have much time left over beyond exploring the beautiful lagoon and enjoying our bungalows.

We had a WONDERFUL time!! We are torn between going back to the 4 islands I mentioned, or doing 2 weeks in Fiji (one week diving, possibly liveaboard; the other relaxing at a resort). Let us know what deals are out there. We would like to go back either late Oct. or early Nov. next year as I mentioned. We like the off season; less people.

We just got back last night. We had a fantastic trip!
We are definitely going back-the Fiji resort was perfect!
It was the perfect place for the kids and amazingly was perfect for us too. It felt like a second honeymoon but at the same time, we enjoyed all the family activities of a family vacation. Watching my 3 year old loving snorkeling was something I thought I'd never experience. The Fiji resort is so great-even looking at fish just off the pier was an experience. My 19 month old was watching saying "Mommy fish, mommy fish, mommy fish, mommy snake (as an eel swam by)" He even started looking for fish in puddles after the afternoon rain!

Thank you for all your help-everything went like clockwork.

Hi Lori,

It was an adventure! We missed our flight to Taveuni because our luggage did not arrive.  Rosie got us on the afternoon flight & booked us a day room at Raffles to nap & shower. Thank God for Rosie.  Our luggage never made it for 3 days!! I understand Darren & crew went out of their way to retrieve it.  It had arrived at Taveuni but got locked up for the night.  They tracked down the man with the key at a local bar to get it to us. Talk about service!  Having said all that, the staff, resort, spa & food at Qamea were great! We had the best massages we've ever had anywhere.!!! Had the weather been better, it would have been perfect. We only got out snorkeling once to Mariah's cove in wet suits.

The Fiji resort was perfect!  The helicopter ride was awesome.  We were like two kids on Christmas morning.  I don't know if it was just seeing the sun but the scenery was dazzling.  Our bure was great, we did three snorkel trips plus twice in the lagoon & it was beautiful.  We loved the food.  The Fijians are phenomenal.  I felt as if we became part of their family.  The Fiji resort has to be one of the prettiest places we've ever been. I have to say if the weather had been good it would have been the best vacation we ever had.  So you really did a great job of listening to us & what we like.

Thanks for everything.  I passed your name to a colleague of  Marty's who is interested in a honeymoon in Tahiti.

Dear Melissa/Lori,

Our trip was just FAB. We had a lot of relaxation time as well as great adventures. Met some wonderful people too. We just love FIJI and want to go back as often as possible.

My Dad is doing well. He lives in Suva and is 85. Went into the Peace Corps and just never came home! He was so happy to have us there.

We took the Navua River boat tour this time. I had done this once before but it was my husband's first time. Just so stunning! Went for a swim under a waterfall and ate a sumptuous lunch in the village. Kava ceremony, dancing, etc. Godwin loved it. Took lots of pictures of the waterfalls.

Mango season was on so we ate a lot of them. The papaya was out of this work delectable too. We ate lamb curry, fish in coconut milk, all of the local stuff. Numm!

Our FIJI family (my Dad is married to a Fijian) had a lovo dinner for us on the Sunday. What a feast!  Dad enjoyed that day very much. Even made a little speech about how grateful he was to be part of their family and how much he appreciated their hospitality of his daughter. He got a little teary eyed. Of course Godwin made a speech as well. I just sat and grinned the entire time.

The resort we stayed at was fantastic! Very nice accommodations facing the beach. Air conditioned, king bed, fresh flowers and fruit in the room, hibiscus on the pillow, nice porch to sit out on. Fabulous restaurant and bar! Breakfast buffet included too. Lots of activities to chose from: Coral planting, snorkeling, hobie-cats, canoes, surf boards, beach walks, etc. All inclusive. Great pool with a water slide, massage pavilion, work out room, night club disco each night. Stage entertainment every night. We just loved it! Best of all was a wonderful staff of warm, friendly people.

I read about 3 books while there. Spent a lot of time just relaxing with a book on the lawn facing the beach. Lots of breezy days. I went snorkeling a lot and, Oh my goodness! Just me, the vast variety of fish, coral, sea anemones and the quiet, clear water. Like communing with God. Amazing!

Hello Lori,

I really wanted to thank you for your assistance in scheduling and rescheduling our trip.

Kaleo and I got in and were well received by the Sammy, the driver. It was nice driving to Pacific Harbor and it went very quickly.  All the people getting off the boat were praising their experience there.  Unfortunately the weather the entire time was not great for surfing but we adjusted and the Fiji resort was very accommodating.  Sue and Mark are great and the locals were awesome.  We were comfortable with the accommodations and the food was good.  Sue and Mark really made sure we were okay since everyone else was diving for the days. We surfed once, took a boat around the island and surfed and fished, hiked to the waterfall and visited the school. Wise did a private kava ceremony with us and that was fun. We ended up just talking about life for about an hour.

We then had an adventure getting to Kadavu.  Sammy drove us through Suva to Nausori and we took off but the weather was so bad we could not see the island of Kadavu. The pilots tried to land 3 or 4 times but turned around and went back to Nausori. So we had to get back to Suva and find a place to stay.  After trying a couple of places we went to the Holiday Inn to kill a night. We made the most of it. The next morning we went back to the airport and were able to land in Kadavu.  It is a 45 minute drive to Matava.  Pulling up, the Bures are along the hillside over looking the water and it is a beautiful view to see and feels very serene pulling up.  We couldn’t surf here and there was not too much to do but we made the most of it by kayaking in the ran, snorkeling, some walks and just relaxed with our books and each other.  We contemplated going North or somewhere else when we couldn’t land but weren’t really prepared to do so. I did look in our book and contemplated a few places but we just loved the remoteness and descriptions of them.  The other ones north seemed to mention night life, families and seemed to be like Waikiki resorts a bit???  Anyway, we had a good trip.  On the last day we got into Nadi at 2ish and our flight was at 11pm so we ended up going to Tanoa hotel and got a room for the afternoon. This was well worth it because we got to rest, eat, shower up and felt great before our flight.  Being that it was Sunday there was not much opened in the city anyway and there was no way we were going to wait at the airport if we could help it.

Hey Lori - It's good to hear from you.  Yeah, Fiji was unreal.  Summer and I were completely blown away.  I showed Mark the video from Frigates and was telling him all about it.  I think he's ready to go now.

The Fiji resort was great.  We pretty much had the place to ourselves the first 4 days as there was only one other couple there.  I think when we left there were only a total of 10 people staying there.  The honeymoon bure is ridiculous.  I mean, we would've been happy with just the regular oceanfront but the honeymoon bure was way above our expectations.  After staying there, it's definitely a step down to the oceanfront....not that we minded but it is different.

I'm not sure that Summer and I were prepared for the food.  We were blown away by the meals.  I mean, we may go out for a meal like that once or twice a year.  Everything was great.

I think the best thing about it was that we got to know all of the fijians working there.  That was one of the high lights of the trip  though.    It was amazing to learn about how they live and their families.  We had a lot of laughs with them.  It really put things in perspective with our day to day lives in busy SoCal.  

I had one of the best days surfing ever.  Summer and I were the only ones on the boat (other than the two guys from Lalati).  They packed us a nice lunch and had drinks and everything.  The waves were unreal.  Summer had a great time on the boat just watching and I had an unbelievable experience in the water.  On the way back the guys swung by a snorkel spot so Summer could get in a check things out.

All in all it was an amazing experience.  Hopefully sometime we'll be able to make it back.  We were talking about it and said while we would love to go back it seems like next time around we should try something new so that we can compare.  Speaking of that, Mark sent me the picture you took from the plane off the over water bures.  It looked nice and perhaps sometime we'll make it there.

Anyway, thanks for all your help is setting everything up.

As a side note, Jennie and I went to Cancun last January and stayed at Dreams Resort.  It was absolutely lovely.  Food was great and lots of activities to keep us busy.

I can't believe our honeymoon trip is over!! It was truly the trip of a lifetime! If I had to sum it all up in one word I would use HEAVEN!!!
 
Thank you, Thank you and Thank you again for helping us with everything, it was much much more than what we expected! You helped in not only making the best choices for us but in making everything so perfect and we are really grateful for everything.  The Fijian people were so very nice and did everything they could to make our honeymoon all the more special.  We have had so many good experiences, I don't know where to start from :)
 
The Fiji Resort #1 was really beautiful.  The food was tops and there were activities held every day.  The room was superb!! Service very efficient.  It was great and would defiantly go there again! We experienced the best sunsets when we were there. 
 
Fiji Resort #2 was heaven on earth.  It was perfect in every way.  Once we arrived we were welcomed with a cocktail and a wooden necklace and were upgraded to an Ocean View bure which was really nice.  The food was super delicious and the service was great! We really like the way they remembered our names and always used them when speaking to us.  The beach was really nice too and so was the pool. Every evening, when we were having dinner, they would turndown our room, close the curtains, close the drapes around our bed and switch on the a/c. For Edwin's birthday, they baked us a special cake of our choice and all the residents there ate together on a big round table.  They even got the boys to play on that day, even though it was a Sunday and afterwards we had a Kava ceremony.  Edwin says its the best birthday ever.  The activities organized by the resort were tops.  We did some and really enjoyed ourselves.  Oh, and I cannot forget to mention the super cocktails by Tomasi! I cannot rave about this property enough and would definitely recommend this to anyone. 
 
Fiji Resort #3 was a beautiful resort. It held more people than Fiji Resort #2 and we noticed a difference after coming from there in regards to personal attention.  The rooms were nice and immaculately clean.  The beach was one of the best we had ever seen with the clear water and white sands. The staff were very friendly and I cannot complain about the service.  The pool was nice too.  We were in Bure 1 which is the first one as you land from the helicopter.  It was right on the beach where we spent most of our days.
 
The Fiji cruise was excellent.  My husband really enjoyed it and would like to do it again one day! We were upgraded to the top cabins and ate with the captain after they forgot us stranded in the middle of the sea on the first day of the cruise.  Its so funny now, I must say.  The food was excellent, the trips were fabulous.  It was perfect in every way! The sea was a little rough on most days and I did get a little sea sick.  However, it was most enjoyable.  The staff were really nice and friendly.  They turned down our room twice a day and the rooms were very clean. 
 
Finally, Fiji Resort #4 ...pure bliss!!! The sea was soooooooo nice!!!! The bures were really nice too.  We had a beachfront bure with our own hammock in front by the sea.  The food was tops and very Italian, the service was tops too and very Fijian..You can't go wrong with Italian food and Fijian hospitality can you?! :)  The owners Freddy and Madalena were so nice and so was Giovanna! We went on a lot of the excursions they had and enjoyed every one of them.  We weren't feeling too good on some of the days we were there, yet all the staff gave us everything we needed to feel better.  They even came up to our bure to see how we were and if we needed anything.  The beaches we went to surrounding the resort were spectacular! Every time we came back from a trip, they would put up a "welcome back" banner, and everyone smiled every time they did it! The cocktails at the bar were great! The pool was stunning too, although we didn't find time to use it! We had a Kava ceremony on one of the days which we really enjoyed. 
 
The hardest part of it all is leaving!! It was hard enough trying to convince myself that it was time to go back home, let alone my husband :-P We have decided to go back again one day in the near future (once we manage to save up enough!!).
 
Everything went along so smoothly with Rosie's.  They really took off all the stresses of traveling! They were all so nice there and very very helpful.  Oh, and some of the guys there say a big warm hello to you both!
 
A big VINAKA VAKA LEVU to you from the bottom of our hearts! I cannot thank you enough for making this trip so special!! It was perfect in every way and I am so happy to have chosen McCoy's.  I have even recommended you to all the people we met throughout our travels because I truly believe they couldn't choose a better travel company than you guys! Dear Melissa,
     Our trip to Hawaii was wonderful.  I can easily and without a doubt say that the help that we received from Lori was above and beyond what we expected or imagined.  I don’t know what we would have done without her.  On a not too happy note, my purse was stolen (from our locked rental car) while stopped on the road to Hana.  Lori took the time to call me from home, in the evening about this.  She consoled me and was so kind and caring.  She is wonderful.  I am very grateful to her.
     My four sons and my husband had a great time learning to surf with the Maui Wave riders.  It was a lot of fun, and they all got up on the boards and road the waves quite a few times!  We all loved the boat excursion that we went on in Kauai.  It was booked on the Blue Dolphin charters. The guys on this boat were great, the Napali coast was beautiful, the fish and turtles that we saw were plentiful, and we all had a blast.  My husband and I renewed our vows in Kauai.  Lori recommended Tori at Custom Kauai Weddings.   Tori was a great choice!  She made the ceremony special; it was perfect.

Lori -

We had a great time, thanks so much for all that you did...especially the above and beyond (spa treatments, champagne etc)  We truly had an incredible time and as you know we had a hard time leaving so we extended!  The staff was great! Warm, helpful without being solicitious...great energy.  Dot and Darren are a real find.  Food wonderful, Williams drinks spot on.  We lazed the days away snorkeling, reading, beach combing, bocce balling etc.  We could go back and still have things to do as we didn't participate in all of the activities offered.  Ron has had a great vision for the resort. 

We too would love to get together at some point.  Let us know when you free up and we'll have you over for a glass of wine and some pupus.  If Ron circles through we'd love to have him as well.  Do you have an email for him as I would like to thank him for the lovely vow renewal ceremony that we weren't charged for.  It was very special.  Hope you are well and in some exotic location!

You asked about our Fiji trip in June with Maui Dreams Dive Shop.
It was an amazing experience. We really didn't know what to expect, having never traveled with a group or had a travel agent make our arrangements. We usually do our own research & make our own reservations. We were very pleased.

The Fiji Resort was beautiful. The diving, food & service were phenomenal. It was an incredible experience. We had expected an oceanfront bure with a private pool, but ours (#13) was the next best.

We'd go back again. We loved it. The incredible experience far outweighed the minor problems.

Bula Lori! (I feel qualified to say “bula” now that I’ve been to Fiji J)

We’re back safe in Dallas. 

The Fiji Resort was incredible!  Apart from a couple of rainy days at the beginning of our stay, the weather was great.  We were both in almost constant disbelief that such an amazing place could exist and that we were right in the middle of it enjoying it.  We feel so lucky to have had the chance to go. 

My family was surprised to hear us talk more about the people than the places, and all of them want to visit Fiji now.  The staff was so friendly and we got to know a few of them pretty well.  The guys in the band were great – Jerry, Lota, George, Simeli.  Jessica and I would hang out with them after dinner, drink kava, listen to them play, and dance.  They were so gracious, and even taught me the lyrics to one of their songs and let me play guitar with them.

We did a ton of snorkeling (both guided tours and out in front of the beach) and got some fun underwater photos.  Bouma Falls was beautiful - Jessica and I braved the leap off of the first falls.  Pa took us on the village tour of Naivivi and Vatusogosogo - it was fun to see him interact with his family and friends in his home village.  It really made you feel connected to the islands and the people even though you were staying in a resort.

They gave us a really great sendoff, and we were very sad to leave.  We left with another couple that had been to Fiji several times before.  Once in Nadi, we did some shopping with them at the big Jack’s Handicraft store and had dinner at Chef’s restaurant afterwards.  The service at both places was excellent.

It was such an incredible experience, one that we’ll never forget.  I have a feeling no other place we travel to will be able to match what we found in Fiji.

Lori, thank you so much for all of your help and patience in preparing the trip and answering our questions.  Leaving the US and going somewhere so far away is a scary proposition for a novice traveler.  But your experience with the Fiji Islands made us feel so much more comfortable about it, and we didn’t encounter one unexpected snag along the way.

I hope you’re enjoying your visit to Fiji.  Sorry we missed you!

I just wanted to really thank you for all the time and energy you put into planning our weddingmoon.  We couldn't have asked for a better destination than Fiji!  We had the perfect wedding and honeymoon.

We recently visited 2 Fiji Resorts.  Each are so different yet somewhat the same - Fiji Resort #1 is a small quaint more homey place with everyone eating together at mealtime (enjoyable) to talk over diving, surfing, whatever people spent the day doing.  I kayaked a few days just because that many days of diving were a lot for us.  Snorkeling is great, kayaking is great, visiting the villages is fun, people were accommodating as long as you let them know what you needed - for example food - Bob doesn't eat vegetables so they just served dinner without them. Food was great, desserts were wonderful, everything was clean and very enjoyable.  We never used our plunge pool because the weather was overcast and rainy a lot of the time and with diving all day we didn't need to feel damp and wet any more. 

Fiji Resort #2 was very five star - the staff was again very accommodating and friendly - we became friendly with some of the staff and enjoyed them very much- food was good- our bure was wonderful, clean, showers were better than home, the evening stars; southern cross, etc. were a sight to behold every evening.  The super ferry was a real treat with the air conditioned room and view of all the islands- very enjoyable.  I'm not sure the plane ride would have been worth the extra cost- but would have been fun. 

Air Pacific was friendly and the plane had nice seating.

Thank you for all of your assistance and patience; we had a wonderful experience we will never forget for our 30th wedding anniversary!!

We had such a wonderful time on our vacation.  The Fiji Resort was fabulous.  Just what we wanted.  One of our favorite times was our anniversary dinner on the beach--we were surprised with a cake and the staff singing to us--what an experience.  Everyone was so kind to us and treated us so special.  We received our massages the afternoon of our arrival--great way to unwind after that long plane ride. Food was delicious (I'm a vegetarian - my husband isn't).  Grounds are gorgeous.  I just don't know where to begin.  Heard some of the most beautiful singing from the people there that I have ever heard in my life.  Saw the elusive orange dove.  Had private snorkeling lessons (in the pool).  Our bure was outstanding.  Several of the people we met had to come see where we were staying because they heard it was so nice.  We just walked out our back door to the pool.  It was like having your own private pool.  One of the first things we noticed was how quiet it was. Lori did such a good job in helping us plan our 40th anniversary trip.

Fabulous Forty in Fiji--WOW!!!!!  It was everything you said and more.  We had such a wonderful time.  Our anniversary dinner was so special.  Ron gave us a bottle of New Zealand wine, a wrap for me because it was a little cool.  We had our dinner on the beach, under the stars, with candle light and the men came and sang for us. The food was great. Then when it was time for dessert Ron and the staff sang an anniversary song to us and presented us with a decorated cake with candles.  I just started to cry.  I couldn't believe they would do that for us.  It was one of those moments you just won't forget.   And you are right when you leave you cry.  When you told me that I thought "oh yeah"  but you were right again.  Thank you so much for this vacation.  I will be talking about it for a long time.  My husband bought me a pearl pendant with chain from the boutique at the resort and a pair of earrings from the pearl farm for our 40th anniversary. I was amazed at how friendly everyone was and how incredibly nice they were. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were happy.  I don't think we have stopped smiling yet.

It is late at night, and before I go to bed I wanted to report to you on your two sets of clients that are on our resort because they are so special, and I want to thank you for sending such wonderful guests to our island:
 
P. & K. Hoholik (Pendleton, Oregon) were married this morning at 10:00AM in brilliant sunshine, all of their lost luggage was recovered yesterday, and they wanted me to tell you that it was better than what they had ever dreamed, and to (a) thank you for recommending us, and (b) to apologize for sending the frantic email to you about the lost luggage.  I had drinks with them tonight before their private dinner on the beach, and they could not be more happy; and
 
R. & N. Wellwood (Modesto, California) – this is the real special one for me.  Tonight they had their 40th wedding anniversary dinner.  They started their pre-dinner cocktails on our new dining bure over the beach, but as it was such a brilliant evening full of stars, I moved them onto the beach just above the surf.  We presented them with an anniversary cake, and all of our night staff – about 40 in total – with band, serenaded them with the anniversary song.  It was very moving, N. was balling, and R. was fighting back the tears.  It was one of those moments when I strongly felt that we were making a real difference – contributing to a very special moment in the lives of our guests, and it really made me feel proud to own this resort.

Wow! How can I begin to thank you. All your helpful tips on visiting Maui for the first time made our trip memorable. Where do I begin? The Wailea (Maui) Resort was spectacular. Intimate, private, not crowded, unbelievable service. Rooms were HUGE! Property was breathtakingly picturesque. I loved the fact that Polo Beach was in close proximity. I loved the boardwalk to the neighboring properties that provided outstanding restaurants within walking distance along the water's edge. As you know, we stayed the second week up in Kapalua. This property was lovely but the hotel itself needed an overhaul, which I understand they are planning on doing in July. I must say we were in a state of depression after leaving Wailea to Kapalua.. I know that may sound strange but true. All your restaurant expertise was so valuable. Our trip to Mama's was done precisely as you suggested and what a memorable dinner. It started with the sun setting against a beautiful beach, then progressed to the mahi encrusted with macadamia nut served by the fisherman who actually caught the Mahi early that morning. My husband had to get a photo of that because he was so impressed with the freshness of the meal. Sansei was also one of our fav's. What a delight to the taste buds. I could eat there everyday. We discovered Jaws at the side of the road and appreciated the reprieve on our wallet for an amazing cost efficient lunch. Hana was so beautiful, that words cannot describe it. We took 11 hours to complete the trip and did it all, waterfalls, black sand beaches, lava tubes, one lane road. We made it. It was so lovely that the stress that accompanies the one lane road was truly secondary. I must say the convertible vantage point sure added to the experience. The trip would not be complete without hanging with celebrities who were staying at our property. The trip ended with the most beautiful rainbow that mysteriously kept growing toward the sky. I tried to capture this and so many beautiful things found on Maui. Photos do not do it justice though. In closing I want to thank you again for all your expertise. You got to know my needs as your client and exceeded our expectations. We have recommended you to many people so far and even to folks we met at the hotel to rent the gear off of Brenda. We are hooked on Maui and can't stop talking about it. Please keep us in the loop for upcoming deals to Maui or other places you think we may enjoy. We certainly value your opinion. Thanks again!

Thank you for your follow up.  Joan and I had a wonderful time at the Fiji Resort.  The Fijian people on the island are wonderful. 

The military coup has created stress in Fiji and it is starting to show in the faces of the people.  It does not show up however at the resort.  This was evident when I got back home after 14 dives in 6 days and gained 8 pounds, (yes the food was great).  My wife’s favorite thing I think was the massages.  Very nice and sweet ladies that gave the massage’s and very skilled.

Hi -

I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have about the Fiji Resort.  First and foremost, there's no better people than the Fijian people.  There's nothing they wouldn't do for you.  Nothing's a chore; it's their pleasure to help you in any way they can.  I never saw people smile so much in my life!  It was truly a wonderful place for relaxation.  My husband and I are "Type A" personalities and it took a couple of days for us to learn how to relax, but managed to do so with no problem.  We spent 9 wonderful nights in Fiji.  The snorkeling was excellent!  The fishing was excellent (my husband is lucky - I like to fish)!  We did some local fishing and we also hired a boat from another island to take us and two other couples out further.  We caught a few Wahoo and some other fish (I forget the names) plus all of us ate some that night for dinner. The water was absolutely beautiful.  Make sure you take the Taveuni Island Tour.  John is your guide and he was superb!!!  He explains everything to you.  About the cannibals and where and how they lived.  Really great tour.  If you do take this tour, ask him if he still has his REPCO hat.  My husband gave him his brand new hat and he really appreciated it.  Real nice guy and excellent tour guide.  The food was great.  We ate too much.  It was sooooooo good and they'll give you any recipe you want.  Just ask!  Fiji was perfectly safe.  I was really skeptical before we left for our trip. Lori will tell you that.  I emailed and called her so many times just for reassurance.  The news media really blows everything out of proportion.  You don't need locks on your doors or anything.  Their local entertainment is really nice.  They put their whole heart and souls into it and you really appreciate it.  Truly amazing.  The owners of the island were really nice too.  They took us on a tour of the Honeymoon Suite one afternoon.  It was fun.  We were in Fiji early December, 2006.

Thank you for arranging the most amazing holiday for us! As you said, the Fijian people are wonderful. It was because of them that we had such a good time. We made many friends and got many email addresses, so hopefully we'll be able to keep in contact with some of them.

At Fiji Resort #1, the beach was awesome, and at high tide the water was wonderful. We spent every afternoon in the ocean and only once had company. Can't understand why all the other people preferred the pool. Oh well, it gave us privacy. The food was okay with the exception of the coconut ice cream with passion fruit sauce that was made right in their kitchen, and Michael's Caesar salad which he made at your table. They were amazing. I may try and email them for the ice cream recipe!

We especially enjoyed the company of Oni and Eddie and it was because of them particularly, along with the beach and water that made Fiji special.

When we first arrived at Fiji Resort #2, we loved the gardens and bures, they are so beautiful. However, right from the start, everyone introduced themselves, and most already knew our names and they rarely forgot. It was fun and laughter right from the get go. The food and hospitality were amazing. We really enjoyed the children on meke night and kava night was lots of fun.. Kava night turned out to be the night before we left, and I had mentioned to Dot that I was a little disappointed that we had had to cut our snorkeling short that day because of rough water. She went out of her way to arrange a special complimentary snorkeling trip the next morning before we left, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. (I swam with 3 sharks).

We made a lot of friends at this resort - Sake, Ima, William, Loro, Matooey, Sara, Pilo and Louisa were wonderful. We also got to be pretty good friends with two other couples that were guests as well. Actually, one of the couples also used McCoy Travel. Once we settled into this resort, did a little snorkeling, made friends, etc. the lack of a really nice beach area didn't seem quite so important.

We thought our first bure was perfect, so nice and cozy. Then they offered us use of the villa, compliments of yourself and the Fiji Resort. Vinaka Vakalevu!! It was wonderful!

We ate a delicious dinner at a local Nadi restaurant called Chef's (recommended to us by Sake) before we flew out.

Garry and I would like to express our appreciation and thanks again for such a worry free holiday. We were our own worst enemies, wondering when we'd hit a snag, but everything flowed together beautifully. All the little details were taken care of. We have already recommended McCoy Travel to a lot of people and we would definitely use your services again.

PS - I was bawling like a baby when we were serenaded by the staff just before we boarded the boat to leave. It was so beautiful.

We really enjoyed a very relaxing vacation. I think in retrospect we should really have stayed at the Hilton as with a little baby there was a lot more there for him. We found ourselves driving over there in the mornings and returning to our hotel for the beach in late afternoon.

All in all though we had a fantastic time. Hotel great service -comfy beds- idyllic setting.

Hi Lori.  I haven’t spoken with you in a while and still haven’t had a chance to catch up regarding mine and Jimmy’s trip to Fiji (Maravu Resort and Plantation) until now.  I can’t believe that it has already been 6 months since we were there.  I usually don’t like to go to the same places that I’ve been before, but my husband and I will definitely go back to Fiji some day.  The people were very kind and good-hearted. 

We stayed very busy while we were there, trying to soak up all that the resort had to offer.  We went to Honeymoon Island and that was cool because as you know, they drop you off on a remote island by yourselves.  We went on a snorkeling trip with a big group of people and even though it was rainy that day, everyone enjoyed it, along with the picnic on the beach, under the tarps that they threw up to keep us dry as we ate.  We even spotted dolphin swimming in the area.  We saw blue starfish, which we didn’t even know existed!  How amazing to see the many creatures that God has created.  We did some hand line fishing, which was different and fun.  We went out in the kayaks and spotted some sea snakes in the water, which we were told to stay away from because they are poisonous.  We went to the water slide …the natural slide with big boulder rocks and water running right down the middle.  That was very neat.  We also went on a hike up a steep mountain, within the lush rainforest-like surroundings, where the Falls is located.  I learned exactly how out of shape I am!  I almost died.  We did the horseback riding and mountain bike riding.  My big souvenir was a black pearl in which I’m very proud.  We went to a church service and although it was in a foreign language, I could kinda follow along because I used to be a Catholic.  The food was to die for!  Very impressed.  A lot of little extras that we enjoyed too were the welcome drink, the going away serenade and cake, etc., etc.  I can’t say enough about the resort.

I just want to thank you again Lori, for all of the help that you provided to me, while I planned our trip of a lifetime for about a year.  I just met someone who has always wanted to go and said that she will now that she has seen our pictures.  Her name is Melissa S, so hopefully you’ll be hearing from her sometime in the near future.

Namale was more beautiful than we could have imagined. the pictures we saw of Namale really don't do justice to it.  We were amazed by how beautiful everything was.  We had perfect weather and just a wonderful time. The food was great, and we drank a lot of champagne!  We drank Kava, went Scuba diving, snorkeling, played tennis, air hockey, watched a movie, had a night at the spa-- so much to keep us entertained.  Most importantly, the people that worked at Namale were so friendly, they made our trip much more special. 
Todd even got one of the locals to take him bat hunting!

Thank you for all of your help with our Fiji vacation. It all went very smoothly and we loved it. If I had to name a complaint it would be that our bure #14 was not secluded, but it worked out well because I could hear my husband at the bar while in our room. Other than that I can't say enough great things about our vacation. I really enjoyed the Outrigger in our bure. Also you could tell your clients staying at the Outrigger that if they go down to the beach turn right and go up the hill there are lots of other places to eat like the Crow's Nest--yummy and cabs that are less expensive 1/2 price. This is where we found a ride to Suva for only $130 FJ--the driver Ali gave us a tour on the way stopping to shop before and when we got to Nadi, guarded our bags, and was just great. We both fell in love with Maravu and all the guests there. All the staff hugged and kissed us when we left, but the massage lady flo, which was fine by me. We also ate at a pizza place across the street and to the left of Maravu (a short walk), which had great pizza and the best restaurant view next to the Crow's Nest. Thank you again and send me some of your business cards. I am working on a Hawaii lead for you already. I sent you a copy of our Fiji diary to let you know all that we did.

Thanks for your email! I also heard from Jeff at Vomo that you had called to check up on us - we appreciate your consideration. To give you some feedback, we had a wonderful time at Vomo! For the benefit of your future guests, here's a quick run-down of the good and the limited amount of bad:

Good:
- Food was excellent - it was like a gourmet meal every night
- The bungalow is quite nice - the a/c is definitely a big plus
- The activities through Crystal Blue/Reef Safari were great also.
Even though the resort was at full occupancy, we were still the only couple on virtually every activity we did. For the Sunset Cruise, Scuba Diving, Deep Sea Fishing and the Village tour, it was just Jessica and I. And the guides (Roko and Tui) were the best - definitely two of the nicest people we met the entire time.

Not as good:
- Vomo lailai is ok only. Not worth the afternoon if you have other
things planned. It hasnt been maintained well and is full of garbage and driftwood
- The beach is ok only - not the picturesque white sand beach I think many ppl would expect
- The Rocks bar was under renovation, so was not an option for dinner
- What surprised me the most were the number of families and children there.
The majority of guests were actually families that come back year after year, and it seemed they garnered much of the attention from staff and the GM, over people like us. Very few honeymooners actually.

Overall, everything was excellent. The most important things for us were the accommodations, the food, and the activities, and in all three of those categories we were extremely happy. If we do go back to Fiji though, I'd probably want to try a resort with a nicer white sand beach (less coral) and less children.

Sorry it has taken me so long to write to you but after we returned home from our Australia/Fiji trip I got caught up in the holidays and am finally catching up. We had a wonderful time at Matamanoa resort. Rosie's was wonderful greeting us with leis and transporting us to the helicopter-- a fantastic way to travel to the island -- what incredible views.
The staff was warm and friendly at Matamanoa -- greeting us with cool island drinks and a musical serenade before showing us to our lovely beach bure. We immediately changed into our swimsuits and went snorkeling--the coral and tropical fish were fantastic and the water so clear and warm. We enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners--never needed more to eat with the teatime and happy hour snacks. The evenings were fun with musical serenades at dinner and games after if you wanted to stay around. The new pool is lovely. We went on the daily free snorkeling trip and went kayaking around the island and the days flew by with snorkeling, beach combing and relaxing in our hammock. Lots of interesting couples to visit with from all around the world. We had a great time and too soon it was time for our helicopter flight back to Nadi.

My children loved the hikes to the waterfall and the water slide on Taveuni, and I loved the magic coral and the blue starfish we saw diving. Yasawa was a bit more upscale, we loved it.
The gorgeous beach, the outside showers, the fishing. We all out ate ourselves over Christmas. Also, the Christmas program was spectacular. The seaplane was fun, it was all great!

If I were returning I would love to visit Qamea again. My suggestions?
Some candy available for purchase on site, a larger, better equipped dive boat. We were a tiny bit disappointed in the diving. To be so close to the Sonosa Strait? but not have a boat with the fuel capacity or speed to get us there was surprising. If we brought our dive friends (12 of us do a trip each year to a new locale), I would need to research a new resort. Sam the dive master was wonderful and the diving was nice, but just not the "world class" we were expecting.
But, my children were not there just to dive... so this will remain a trip of a lifetime. Please let all the people know at both resorts that we appreciate their efforts to make our vacation perfect... and we love them all for it. We are planning on shipping a container next month to Qamea... stuff for the Fijian children in all the villages. Again, we loved
Fiji.

Oh my god..it's so beautiful in Fiji...I think there are still claw marks on the palm tree that they had to drag me away from! haha! We decided after staying on Vanua Levu, if we ever went back there's no way we could stay at any other bure there other than that.....it's so perfect. As Tom said "we are now 'bure snobs' " hee hee. Trust me..we are spreading the Fiji word...I was trying to talk Vanessa into needing an assistant! Question too....we are actually coming back to Hawaii (Maui) next August for my cousin's wedding. Last time when we went there we stayed at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort and really liked it...ocean front room. Can you look into that for me? Well, time to get back to work...it's really crazy with Thanksgiving! Happy Turkey Day and I will stay in touch...but it was definitely an amazing time and your service was fabulous!!

Well here is our report on Fiji. We have owned our condo in Maui since 1988 and have been there so many times we have lost count. However, if we were to rate Maui a 10 then Fiji would be a 15. I think that our evaluation is based on our, including your’s and Melissa’s, selection of islands. If we had stayed at one of the resorts on Viti Levu we may have considered Fiji equal with Maui; the difference was the selection of remote islands. I have NEVER been on a vacation where I forgot completely about work and didn’t feel the least bit guilty about not caring. We will have a little different view of the three islands and our accommodations since each of us has different needs and expectations.

Thanks for your e-mail reminding us to give you our reflections. It was a great trip. Everything worked out as you indicated.

Koro Sun Resort was super. We were the only ones there. The attention and service and meals were super. I made arrangements to have the Fijian Angelican Priest to officiate in repeating our vows, which was followed by a wonderful chicken and lobster dinner with all the trimmings. It was held at the massage house next to the water fall. Two chefs and two helpers served us in real class with a special cake and candles. The arrangements for the ceremony and dinner was to be over $ 200. When we paid our over-all bill, the manager said the evening was a gift. It was delightful. While we were there we went to see the dolphons do their act, but they took the day off. However, we snarled and saw beautiful fish and magnificent coral. We enjoyed becoming acquainted with the Fijian people, their culture, values and lifestyle.

Our 50th anniversary trip to Fiji was beyond our dreams. Ken and Peggy also took great care of us.

Thanks for your suggestion to Ken and Peggy. Next summer or fall Dori and I will be at our condo in Kahana Villa. We will stop by to meet you. You did us a great favor.

We truly enjoyed our honeymoon in Fiji. We were absolutely enthralled with our Resort on Beqa. Not only was the food there impeccable, the staff was just incredible. We felt like members of a big extended family. We only had to mention something and our wish was fulfilled. The diving operation there was seamless… Sevu, their dive master, was fun and informative and I felt very safe with the whole team. They even thought of the little things like having a Scrabble game in our room to play on rainy days. We really enjoyed the intimacy of the resort, and the grounds were beautiful maintained. I think you should mention more to people how eco-friendly they are… the toilets are composting, providing fertilizer for their organic gardens. They use grey water (wash water) for all of their irrigation and filtered rainwater for all of the potable water. Those were things that impressed us even more. Plus, they have a foundation providing healthcare for villagers on the island. Let’s just say that when we go back to Fiji, we will definitely be going back to Beqa… it is a beautiful place that we want to support.
Qamea was very nice, the snorkeling and diving there was incredible and the grounds were very well maintained. The authentic bures were very nice and our favorite time at Qamea was our visit to church with the villagers. That was very special.Overall a beautiful vacation and everything was very well-coordinated on your end. Thank you for all of your help and we will recommend your agency and Lori Evans in the future.

Well our trip was wonderful, we both enjoyed everything and more. Taveuni is beautiful island, and the people are just great. It was great to hear the language again, their singing, and of course those big smiles of theirs.
We would go back to Maravu Resort again. Everyone there was wonderful to us, we made friends, but how can you not make friends with those guys. The resort is very nice, we meant the owner Jochen Kiess. He is very nice.
We meant so many honeymooners, that was fun. Alot of them from the states. Both Mike and I want to thank you for helping us plan this trip, we had such a good time. And My BIG 50 was wonderful, boys in the band sang to me,
had a birthday cake, and the most wonderful massage in the world. Mike arranged a sugar scrub with an hour massage, plus the heated stones. Oh my god, that was pure heaven. Mere is the one that gave me my massage

Thanks for your message. Yes, back to work (unfortunately) and even though I'm swamped I am welcoming the opportunity to procrastinate a bit more and talk about Qamea!

We had an AMAZING time. You recommended the perfect honeymoon for us. We were able to be active when we wanted to (playing volleyball, hiking, snorkeling, scuba) and lazy at other times (ok, most of the time!) laying in the hammock, napping, reading and (my requirement) sipping tropical drinks on the beach! We only went on one excursion - to Bouma Falls - but it was very interesting and beautiful and our guides were great. We also really enjoyed Honeymoon Beach - a nice touch.

We absolutely loved the staff - Mariah, Filo, Julie, Richard, William, Johnny, everyone - so sweet and always greeting us with a huge BULA! In fact, the entire staff, from the manager Shelly to the gardeners were so welcoming and friendly every time they saw us. We instantly felt right at home.

You were right about the food too - delicious! We definitely never went hungry. Every day when we'd hear the drums calling us to lunch we thought - "Are you kidding? We just ate!" We never missed a meal, though, because they were so great - beautifully presented and yummy. Drew became really friendly with the "Band Boys" (aka the "Kava Boys") so we had our fair share of kava. Let's just say we slept really well while we were there. ;) We had a great time hanging out with the other guests. One couple got married about half way through our visit so we were able to attend an impromptu "reception" for them at the Bar. So much fun - stayed up really late dancing, singing, and drinking!

Well, needless to say, when the time came for us to leave and the staff began singing their farewell song, I was a total mess. ;(

We hope that we can go back to Qamea some day - need to save some money (and vacation time) first! The next time we are able to take a vacation we will absolutely contact you. We're so close to Hawaii we'll probably plan a trip there soon. I've only been to Oahu and Drew's only been to Oahu and Maui. Kauai is calling our name! ;) We'll also gladly recommend you to our friends.

We had an absolutely wonderful, marvelous trip to Matangi. I think Matangi was our favorite — the staff and other guests were so warm and welcoming. We became friends with couples from Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britian....a great diversity of people of all ages and backgrounds. We had a great number of adventures together snorkeling, a pouring rain storm to go see the waterfalls on Taveuni, pleasant dinners and conversation on the ocean deck, and a special last evening “anniversary” surprise created by Maggie with our own private table and a chocolate cake to share with all our friends. On the morning we left Matangi, EVERYONE — all of our new friends — were on the beach and the dining deck singing and waving goodbye. We were all in tears.

By the way, Kay at Matangi upgraded us to a deluxe bure because the standard bure was in a location that got NO breeze at all. I told Kay I would pay for the upgrade but she insisted that she would not charge us.

Okay, so now I am interested in planning our next South Pacific adventure. We are both interested in returning to Fiji and exploring some different islands. We also are considering Tahiti. We don’t know much about Tonga or the Cook Islands. What are your thoughts?

You did a magnificent job of planning our trip to Fiji. Every detail was taken care of and well executed. We will be in Maui November 16-December 8. Will you be around then? We could come by your office and get started on planning our next trip. I could get started before then and do some background research if you give me a few leads.

I just wanted to say thank you for all your help and to let you know we had a wonderful experience everything went as planned without a hitch. From the meet and greet between flights to the resort to the VIP waiting lounge at the end, it was great and one of THE most relaxing vacations we have ever had.
Your descriptions and what we might expect from Namale were right on and I think the Marau was the best bure there. The staff were the most hospitable of anywhere I have every traveled anywhere in the world they just made everything so worry free and effortless. Now I have to decide what to have for dinner, imagine that. We enjoyed pretty much everything at the resort from snorkeling to the spa and had a wonderful couples “Moonlight Magic” experience which was unforgettable. My only criticism was the beach which you did disclose, but I think it was the reef being so close and no real sandy bottom that made it less than desirable. Since I was kind of anxious about getting to experience that idyllic white sandy beach, we begged and pleaded and they took us to a little private island that one of the staff member’s grandfather is a village member so we got permission to be dropped off there on a perfect idyllic sandy spit of white sand that went out into crystal blue water with a sandy bottom with the reef about 15 feet out, it was perfect! With a picnic lunch and a few Fiji Bitters we were set. Namale is definitely a place where if you ask, they deliver.

We also ended up meeting up with some old friends that we hadn’t seen in over 15 years who we live 20 minutes away from and are now going to get together which was amazing in the middle of the South Pacific meeting someone you know. And we ran into some McCoy people - Hiapo and his wife, both very nice.

I’ve recommended you to business and friends and hope they use your services, we definitely will for any future trips. Our next trip will be sometime over the Christmas/New Year’s holiday and are considering New Zealand and some sort of fly fishing accommodation. Let me know and maybe we can start working on that.

Romantic Fijian Vacation

Our vacation in Maui was fabulous. We loved the Wailea Elua condo. We spent most of our time on the second story lanai doing nothing. The snorkeling was great right in front of our condo and the whole concept of the Destination Resorts planning is very impressive, that you can walk for miles on sidewalks, cut into beaches. We really loved the walk from the Elua to the Kihei Surfside. What a fabulous stretch of beach and of course what can you say about McKenna Beach. We bought beautiful bronze sculptures at the Dolphin Galleries at the Shops of Wailea and several watercolors of beautiful Hawaiian flowers. Martin & McArthur is also a great shop. We love Maui and plan to come several times a year. Soon I will contact you about Tahiti. We were thinking this winter. I will talk to you next week.

Luxury Maui Vacation

Adam and I had a GREAT honeymoon at Tokoriki! I noticed it is usually not one of the featured resorts on the Fiji e-mails you send out, but it should be! Everything there was fabulous (great food - we ate kokoda every night) and exactly as expected, or in many cases, much better. The Sunset Pool Honeymoon Bure was definitely worth the extra cost. The only minor thing that was not as described was that the massage for two that we had booked as part of our romance package was described as being "in room" - we had to go to the massage bure, as they only had one portable table, but as I said, that was very minor.
All of our transfers went as expected, and the Rosie's personnel were very friendly and were on time. Raffles Gateway Hotel left something to be desired, but we realized that we were only there for a few hours, and due to its proximity to the airport, that is probably the most convenient option. We did not book our air travel through you (we booked business class on Air New Zealand using miles), but our flight was excellent.

Fiji was wonderful. Everything I could have hoped for and more. We did have some complications though. Meredith's ears got blocked in Yasawa and we had to go to the doctor in Nadi to have them cleared which was an experience.
We both enjoyed Wadigi and will definitely return. The main draw there was the privacy and food. Yasawa was a much better example I think of Fiji though. It had more culture and an absolutely beautiful beach. However, the food was a definite step back from Wadigi. The chefs at Yasawa tried very hard to make an excellent presentation, in which they did, but the taste was a little bland in comparison.
We also enjoyed dining with Jim and Tracey, who are very kind people. When we arrived at Yasawa, Garth was there to meet us and introduce us to his resort. We ended up dining with Garth and his wife Maggie also. Garth and his entire staff could not have been more accommodating, they were excellent and willing to do anything for us. It was Joselyn, Garth's manager when he's not there who got Meredith into see the doctor and arranged transportation for us.
I must say that I have no complaints and I truly do appreciate all your extraordinary efforts to make our vision a reality. I never told Meredith, nor anyone else where it was that we were going, until we got to LA. She could not have been more pleased. I will certainly be calling upon your knowledge in the future. There are many more beautiful places in the world that Meredith would like to see and I know that you will set us straight.

Our honeymoon was fantastic! The Island was beautiful, just what I was looking for. Jayne, Clint and Beato were very warm and welcoming. And the food! It was pampering all around. Pam and I did all the stuff - kayak, dive, snorkel, went to Storm Island, saw the bats, went to the village. The diving was great, but you might want to recommend to people to bring their own equipment if they can. The price of diving did not include the rentals, as I found out when we receive our invoice at the end of the vacation. Of course people cannot bring tanks and weights, so perhaps check with Jayne as to what she would charge to rent just those pieces. But overall, it was a small price to pay for such a great honeymoon. I'm including a few pictures I took while there. One is of Pam handing out some candy and pencils to some village children. It was your idea to bring them those things, so I thought it only proper to show your ideas at work. I'm recommending Fiji to all my friends and will definitely pass your name along. I'm happy to send some more if you like.

Our trip to Fiji was great. I do not have enough great things to say about Royal Davui. The staff was great and it is a vacation that I will compare all vacations too. I was able to meet the owners of the resort as well, and they made me feel more like guests than a paying client. I would not hesitate to recommend the resort to anyone. I have a lot more great things to say about the resort and if you ever want to use me as a recommendation let me know. Furthermore, the room was incredible, the only thing I would change is I would make the plunge pool have the ability to be used as a Jacuzzi as it was a little cold to be usable with the slight wind blowing. Lastly, the general managers where great to talk with. I enjoyed talking with Ratu at the bar and thought his stories where priceless. Some times when my wife was getting ready for dinner, I would go down early so I could talk with him. Thanks for taking the time to make a memorable 10th anniversary.

Lori Evans tells me you have great legs. What you have that’s great is – Lori!! I found Lori by accident; talk about ‘serendipity.’ Last winter, while searching for Fiji diving help, I stumbled [literally] upon your website. I wrote a stupid letter asking for some information [some of which I already had] and Lori wrote back the next day [on your behalf, of course]. Thus became a friendship which has persisted to this very day [or, almost to this very day as the Securities and Exchange Commission has become my new best friend – but I digress]. We knew about the Nai’a but it was not available when we were. Lori made a phone call and then it was [with a little of your help, too, I suppose]. Now Mike, Joeli, Alexx, Todd, Jonathan, Josh and Liz are our friends, too, not to mention Daniel at Air Pacific and all the rest of the crew. The first of our group signed up in December, the last a week before we left [we are nothing if not non-committal]. Lori, with some pinch hitting from Ron, stayed with this project as if she had no life.
Always available by telephone, e-mail, Fed Ex and carrier pigeon, Lori was completely responsive and responsible. Her attention to detail is second only to my own [which, by the way, is all I do well]. I know her life story and she knows mine [and that’s saying something as mine is pretty dull and she listened to it all]. Lori embellished her sensational and professional service with some pretty hefty discounts, too, for which the group and the SEC are mighty grateful. I’m glad to see that you are expanding your turf to Costa Rica, Africa, Pluto and Mars because if Susan and I ever get to take another trip, Lori will be our first call. In the meantime, I just want you to know that you have a real gem in Lori Evans. If there’s anything left after all those discounts, put a little something extra in her envelope – she is well worth it!

First of all I would like to report that First Landing is wonderful, the garden villa is exceptional and the resort is very friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they treated us like family. Just about everyone knew our names and made sure we were taken care of.
The Matei Point house was also great, the location and grounds can not be beat. The house and the caretakers are very nice, including the house dog. It is not a typical vacation and some amenities are just not available. This wasn't a problem as we have been to Fiji before so we were prepared. We plan on going again, just not sure when. Thanks for all your help, we could not have pulled this trip off without it.

Our bure was Totoka, and it was our decadent home base!! It was amazing, perfect; complete with a personalized, carved wooden nameplate hanging on the door to welcome us. Totoka is beside one of the pools & hot tubs at the resort, and with so few guests it became an extension of our bure (our pool & hot tub ) And flowers, flowers, flowers everywhere!!! Flowers on the bed, and petals spelling out a welcome or forming a heart – and when we walked in the door on our wedding night, they had spelled out JUST MARRIED along with a huge heart with flower petals on the beautiful hardwood floor!! Can you imagine!

How does breakfast at waterfall in the rainforest sound? Horseback ride to the top of a mountain? Picnics of lobster tails, and dinners on private, torch lit decks overlooking the ocean … at Namale, experiences like this are only the beginning. One of our favorite memories is meeting some of the wonderful children of Naidi village after we went to church on Sunday.

And the wedding day, OH the wedding day!!! A wonderful, magical ride is what it felt like J What everyone at Namale created for our wedding day went way above & beyond what any bride and groom could dream of. The people who live and work at Namale aren’t ‘staff’, they were like family who were eager and excited to share in the joy and make everything special and perfect … and it was, VINAKA it was!!!

About an hour before our ceremony was to begin, Rob was whisked away to the ‘dream house’, where I learned later he went swimming and had his last beer as a free man! This hour before my wedding that was about to pass was incredibly special and I will treasure it always; it set the magical, joyful tone for everything that was about to unfold! Danielle (one of the managers of the resort along with her fiancé Mark) and Lori (the spa manager) arrived with fresh flowers to do my hair and to help me get ready. Then we hear a sweet ‘hello!’, and it’s Kristi our ‘neighbor’ from the bure next to us (she and her love, Kirby, were pronounced man and wife at Namale a few days before). She has brought me a wedding gift of a beautiful negligee and stays to help create and share in the beautiful atmosphere of anticipation and happiness. Then, my bridal bouquet is presented. Well, I’ll leave this description to the picture! What I want to convey, is that hour before my wedding that I spent with Danielle, Lori and Kristi as they helped me get ready was so real and full of love. These were not services provided (need proof: there was no charge for doing my hair or my amazing bridal bouquet) this was family and friends!!!
I am forever thankful!

We were married on the Walu deck, and I will never forget the look of love in Rob’s eyes. The way they decorated was breathtaking – red ginger and palms and flower petals! When I watch the video and hear the Fijian choir singing hymns it still gives me chills! (Danielle took the incredible pictures of the ceremony with our camera and Lori captured the choir and me walking down the aisle on video with our camera. Vinaka Vaka Levu!!! (We had the photographer as well, but I haven’t got those developed yet). Danielle was one of our witnesses along with Lino, a great guy from the resort with a wonderful spirit. Three couples that we had become friendly with at the resort took time to come and share in our special day!

We had Kokoda (a traditional Fijian dish for special occasions) as the appetizer for our wedding dinner. I was actually able to replicate the dish here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada – I made it to celebrate our 1 month wedding anniversary just the other day (corny, I know, but aren’t newlyweds supposed to get away with that sort of thing? We did the occasion up Namale style, i.e. lots of flowers!!!!

Thank You for the trip of lifetime. Qamea was paradise defined. Bryce and Ron were great but what really made the trip special were all staff. We wanted to bring Sake home with us. I can still hear his infectious laugh. The Food and Bure's were great. Qamea will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Lori was so sweet and did a great job on everything. One thing I would change would be to use Air Fiji instead of Sun Air.

We had a great time in Fiji! For us Fiji and Dive Kadavu were exactly what we were looking for, great diving and a comfortable place. The hospitality and the food was excellent. Apparently the cook is relatively new...he did a great job.
I think Dive Kadavu is a good blend of 'real' Fiji yet still clean and comfortable. I believe spending more money at a different resort would have bought us more modern (better?) accommodations, however we would have lost the natural feel of Dive Kadavu. I'll pass on the 'manicured' areas and go for something more local every time. That's my opinion, having only seen the Island of Kadavu, Dive Kadavu, and a small portion of Nadi, what do you think?

Your and McCoy Travel's service were top notch from the start. Great recommendations and options when we were researching the vacation and excellent support once we made a decision and reservations. The information packet that came with the airline tickets is a nice touch. We would (and will) recommend Fiji and Dive Kadavu, as well as McCoy Travel's services to anyone looking for a friendly and professional travel agency.

Thank you so much for preparing this trip for us. It was definitely a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip. Well, hopefully not if we plan to go back in 3 years :) We had an absolutely spectacular time and the entire experience entirely exceeded our expectations. The resort, the staff, the accommodations, the travel. It was all so well organized, friendly, beautiful, etc. The small dudes did relatively well. Grady has a bit of separation anxiety so he had a little bit of a rough go, but in general really enjoyed the nannies and all of the attention that he got from them. He did eventually thrive with them and they were so kind to him. Charlie loved the whole experience and couldn't get enough of the beach, pool, etc. I feel that the resort is such a unique place and we felt so fortunate to have been able to enjoy it. Dale and I fully relaxed (after the first day or so of getting used to being without our kids) and loved the long wonderful meals, the snorkeling, the sailing, the pool, the tennis courts, the extremely courteous staff...all of it. I really couldn't have asked for anything more. We are excited to return in 3 years when the boys are a bit older and can truly appreciate the wonders of the island. It will be something that we will greatly look forward to. Thanks again for all of your help on this. We'll be in touch.

Fiji was the best vacation ever. The Outrigger Lagoon was very nice although not as intimate as Cousteau Resort . The white water rafting trip on the main island was amazing. Cousteau is in a league all its own. From the minute we arrived we knew this place was very special. The staff was unbelievably friendly,and by the time we left it was hard to say goodbye. The diving was terrific, the best we have done. The dive staff was absolutely first class. We will be returning and hopefully to perform dentistry in the clinic as the people in Fiji are in desperate need for dental services. Every bit of this trip went like clockwork and no one could come up with a way to improve it. We will be recommending you to our friends. Thanks again.

In Bonnie's words -- and she's the expert having spent over two years in the south pacific, including several months in Fiji, "The resort exceeded all expectations." She already knew about the genuine cheerfulness, warmth and friendliness of Fiji people. The rest of us all had a chance to enjoy that first-hand. The nanny service gave my three married children a wonderful and rare opportunity to enjoy a long holiday as couples, yet still have their children present.
My Aussie grandchildren learned to snorkel -- Taylor wriggled with excitement at sight of his first fish, and all the babies quickly became water babies. Jenny came in second in the crab race. The private island picnic was a highlight for all of us. The champagne was a thoughtful touch. The weather couldn't have been nicer, the water couldn't have been more comfortable to play in, the staff couldn't have been more hospitable. Serenity was always available if we wanted it. The good condition of the reef in front of the resort -- and the diversity of its marine life -- was a special treat and a pleasant surprise. The bures were perfect accommodations. The resort's intimacy was captivating.
All airline service you reserved for us was superb. Although some family members were a bit skittish about the intra island flights, that's the kind of flying I particularly enjoy. Air Pacific showed us again how much more efficient (than U.S. airlines) many of the foreign airlines (like Qantas) are. They weren't carrying a full passenger load, so most of us were able to stretch out on 3 seats and get some real sleep on the overnight flights.
One thing though. Sure wish you could have done something about that rogue blizzard (2-3 ft of heavy spring snow) that hit Denver the day we were supposed to return. DIA shut down, and 8 of us had to hole up in LA for 54 hours until we could get confirmed seats home.
Mostly I basked in my family's happiness. Thank you for making it possible. We are already planning for a return, probably in three years to co-celebrate a 75th birthday (mine) a 50th and a 40th birthday (my two sons). Please forward this on to Melissa, so she too can be included in my heartfelt thanks. Until 2008...

Hi Lori,
Thank you for the sula's you sent for Debbie and I. I have movies of the maid helping us get them on. I had no problems with the flight. The highlight of our trip was the upper Navua river rafting trip. It is suppose to be one of the most beautiful rivers in the world and there is absolutely no doubt about that!!! I am very happy you had mentioned doing that because I may not have done it myself. We were also very lucky with the weather. It had rained 10 days straight before we got there. One couple from Texas had 6 days of rain on their 7 day vacation. It rained the day we arrived but sunny everyday after that. For Debbie's birthday we took a five island cruise. They had baked her a cake and we made lots of friends. Now I need some help for my birthday. I will be 60 in January. We will travel around January 11th, my husband and I. We had thought of going to Buenos Aires and Chile however I am open to exotic vacations. No Belize, no Costa Rica, no Hawaii.
